Dr. Advani is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine and serves as the Co-Medical Director of Duke Infection Control Outreach Network (DICON). In her role, she assists >50 community hospitals in further development and strengthening of their existing infection prevention programs.
Dr. Advani's main research interests include prevention of catheter-related harm, implementation of diagnostic stewardship interventions, and improving metrics to better align with outcomes. She has been awarded the NIDDK-K12 Urologic Research Career Development Award, Pepper Center Career Development Award, and the SHEA Research Scholar Award for her UTI related research. In addition, she serves as one of the key investigators for the CDC Prevention Epicenter Program, as well as CDC SHEPheRD award to examine the Use of Race, Ethnicity, and Social Determinants of Health Data in NHSN Measures to Promote Health Equity
