Prof. Jesús Rodríguez-Baño, MD, PhD, FESCMID is specialist in Internal Medicine and has an Expert Degree in Epidemiology. He is Past-President of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), and Editor of Clinical Microbiology and Infection. He is Head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena (HUVM) and Professor of Medicine at the University of Seville, Spain. He is the Scientific Chair of the Spanish Network for Research in Infectious Diseases (REIPI), author of more than 400 peer-reviewed articles and leader or partner in several research projects funded by the European Union. He was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Joint Programme Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance of the European Union. His areas of interest include antimicrobial resistance (clinical epidemiology, control and treatment), antimicrobial use, bloodstream infections and healthcare-associated infections.
