Jose R. Castillo-Mancilla, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at The University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is a clinical researcher in HIV with a specific emphasis in clinical pharmacology and antiretroviral adherence, where he has contributed to the development of novel pharmacological measures of adherence and exposure to PrEP and ART. He also focuses on improving ART adherence and understanding the biological consequences of suboptimal adherence beyond viral suppression in people with HIV. His research is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and he is an investigator within the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, where he co-chairs a large multicenter clinical trial focused on novel therapeutic strategies for persons with HIV who face barriers to adherence.
